Susannah Sharpless

Research
I am a PhD candidate at Cornell University studying nineteenth-century American literature. I am interested in questions of gender and race, poetics, and the sea.
Teaching
I love helping students think about language. At Cornell, my teaching has been recognized with the Gitner Prize. You can read more about that in this Student Spotlight.
Poetry
I write poems often. Somewhat less frequently, some of them end up published. Sometimes even online.
